Runaway Bay
Club Caribbean Hotel.
- In July 1969 the hotel was proposed for Salem Beach, Runaway Bay. On reclaimed swamp land. Built by Richard Patrick Salm, with help from Frank Pringle.
- In October 1969, 60 one-bedroom circular beach cottages were completed and interior work was being done. Next will be the administration block, which will include a covered terrace, dining room, kitchen stores, offices and other facilities. A swimming pool is also being constructed.
- The hotel opened in 1970. From the beginning there was a 'swimsuits optional' beach. It was marketed to local tourists.
- In 1992 construction began on the second phase.
- The hotel was bought by Royal Decameron, completely refurbished, and in 2002 became the all-inclusive Royal Decameron Club Caribbean, comprising 20 garden suites, 20 yard rooms and 135 private one-bedroom cottages, also a gymnasium, rent-a-car service, disco bar, tennis court, boutique and wedding services.
