- Previously this hotel could have the Edgewater Inn.
- Opened February 1966 by Continental Hotel Ltd. It was formerly the Coral Gardens Motel. It underwent a transformation under Mrs. Ines Darby, the manager. She studied at the Cornell Hotel School. Now had 20 rooms and 40 beds(?)
- In 1967 it was being called the Hotel Continental.
- In 1968 it became the Rum Barrel Motor Inn (in Green Gables).
- Last mention of the Rum Barrel Motor Inn in the Gleaner is September 1970.
