Dunn's River House Hotel. The hotel was in an elegant seaside mansion on 14 acres. Their slogan was "A Little Paradise by the Sea." Mrs. R.K. Tapley, proprietress. She also ran Maryfield, and she ran this hotel on the side. Both with English management.
- First Gleaner classified ad is August 1933. They ran weekly for years. Often in a display ad with Maryfield first. They continued through the 1930s.
- In September 1935 the hotel closed except to parties by arrangement. It reopened for guests on December 1st.
- In August 1936 the hotel closed for alterations and extensions. It reopened November 7th.

- In April 1944 the hotel was looking for a cook, waiter and waitress.
- In July 1946 the hotel was used for a fund raiser.
- In March 1948 there was a social announcement on a guest staying there. The last Gleaner mention.
- In 1951 the house was reconstructed and decorated. Regency fantasies were introduced and a Roman waterfall was built in the garden. See clipping.
- At one time it was owned by Mrs. Cy Elkins of Jamaica Inn. [when? as home or hotel?]
- By 1956 the mansion became Rio Chico, owned by Mr. Odo Cross and Mr. Angus Wilson. Many important people were guests there.
- It is still the Rio Chico Private Estate (or Rio Chico Villa) and can be rented by the week.
