Five Roofs Hotel, 20 North Street, Kingston
- The first Gleaner mention of Five Roofs is January 1870. The spacious family mansion is for rent. It is on the corner with Wildman St.
- In July 1871, the house was "robbed" and a $10 reward is being offered by Clara Delgado. The ads run into September.
- In June 1980, the house is put up for auction. "Considered the finest Residence in the City." It doesn't sell.
- In December 1881, the house, land to the east of it, and other properties, are for sale by auction to settle the estate of Isaac Delgado.
- In February 1904, furnishings are being sold at auction to settle the estate of W.A. Lindo.
- In November 1918, Cyril Delgado, of this address, died of pneumonia.
- In October 1919, the residence is for sale. The ad suggests a hotel, as Earls Court is at #18 and Hampton Court is at #16.
- In October 1920, Minna Delgado died.
- In November 1923, an infant died at this address.
- In May 1924, Allan Lyons is selling from Five Roofs, turkeys, ducks, fowls, rabbits and guinea pigs; also white bantam fowls.
- In November 1924, he is selling native wild birds. Best aviary owned by any one individual.
- In October 1927, 20 North Street is for sale. The property extends from Wildman Street to Rum Lane. The grounds are extensive. The place is called "Hughendon Lodge." Not clear when this was used.
- In December 1927, the residence is for sale again. By instructions from the Trustees of Delgado Estate.
- In June 1928, Irene Lindo dies, and this is listed as her residence.
- In January 1929, the building is for sale. The building is among the largest in the City with 10 bedrooms. Would suit an up-to-date lodging house, going at £1935. Ads continue into May.
- In June 1929, a lot of furniture is for sale.
- In November 1930, household furniture is for sale at public auction.
- In February 1931, the first time it is called a hotel. A lost was posted in the Lost & Found column.
- In April 1931, a woman staying at the Five Roofs lodgings, smuggles in two dogs from Australia. The dogs were gassed.
- In January 1932, a hotel license was issued to Five Roofs Hotel.
- In April 1934, Lola Abrahams withdrew her application for a hotel license for 20 North Street. Then ads for businessman homes and visitors.
- In October 1934, the hotel is for sale at auction. There are 20 bedrooms.
- In December 1934, the hotel is operating.
- In February 1935, some furniture is being sold.
- In March 1935, a small ad for tenant or purchaser. There are 18 bedrooms (2 with bath and toilet), 4 bath rooms, dining and sitting rooms, front verandah upstairs and downstairs, kitchen and pantry, garage for 10 cars, 6 servant rooms.
- In January 1936, Allan Lyons is selling a little filly from here.
- In October 1936, Mr. Gillie Delgado dies.
- In April 1938, the land and dwelling house are for sale by public auction.
- In May-June 1938, the place is still for sale. Numerous apartments, standing on land 150x150.
- In August 1938, the property is purchased for £3,000 from Mr. F.E. Lyons to turn into the Land Settlement Department. The plan is to not demolish the present buildings and construct new offices, but to adapt the existing building to the needs of the Department. They are still there. Now called the National Land Agency.
