Island View Hotel, On Long Hill in the Reading area. It had wonderful views of the Bogue Islands when they were still nothing but mangrove. You could also sit on the front porch and watch the cane fires burning.
- Harold and Hilda Penso, of Cambridge, St. James, built and operated the hotel. Opened for business in November 1967 with 22 rooms in a 3-story building on 4-1/2 acres. It had a swimming pool and a fish pool. It was estimated to cost £150,000.
- In the Fall of 1974 the hotel was rented by the government for a nurses home.
- In 1975 Harold Penso was working at the front desk and a man came in and attacked him and would have killed him had Hilda Penso not hit the assailant on the head with that heavy machine that was used in those days to process credit card transactions.
- In 1981 it was still a nurses home.
- In the 1980s the Pensos sold the hotel.
- By 1992 squatters had taken over the hotel entirely and the gardens were a wilderness.
- Replaced by the Concept Homes development, with all three lots completed in 2023.
